So, I decided to paint a pillow. How does this go along with My Moving Challenge? ? Well, I’m tying it in by explaining how important it is to use what you have…by moving things around the house. You see, this was formerly an outdoor pillow. Even more perfect for a little boys’ playroom because it’s durable and spills can easily be wiped off.
I saw an adorable pillow with an elephant actually colored on it with a fabric crayon and immediately knew it’d work for the boys’ playroom. I was pumped. However, I was also aware of the fact that it would cost money to buy a fabric crayon or pillow.
Enter the lime green outdoor pillow and navy sample paint I already had.
To me, this project was free. However, it was free because I had the supplies already. I’m not trying to be one of those people that says, a pillow for free! Because, honestly, it was only free to me because I had what I needed…. (another reason to use what you have…look around, what can you embellish? What can you reuse?)
Here’s how it worked:
I Googled “free elephant clip art” and searched until I found one I liked.
I hit “full size image” and right-clicked to save it (I made sure I had the right to do it, etc.).
I put it in Microsoft Word.
I traced it onto the back of some paper we already had directly from the computer screen (yay for recycling!).
I cut it out.
I traced it onto the pillow.
I filled it in with paint…
Ta-da!
I’m so excited to finish the playroom. Slowly…slowly…we are unpacking and adding small touches of us.
Are you painting any pillows? Have any ideas for free projects around the house? Are you moving things around the house?
I’m linking up…
This is Day 9 of The Nester’s 31 Day Challenge!

Such a cute pillow! I love green, and I love elephants! I have a collection of elephant figurines and wooden elephants.
