December 30, 2013
As 2013 comes to a close, I’d like to nominate this guy for Father of the Year…just check this out:
Yep. Hate it for the rest of you but my dad, CLEARLY won.
He’s pretty much amazing.
He was determined to build something after showing him links like this and this.
I kept saying over and over and over it was not a big deal and we could live with the black hood but once he gets a project in his mind, it’s kind of stuck. Hence the whole yellow house adventure….we would not even be in this house without his guidance and wisdom!
Anyway, back to the hood….over that weekend, he kept sending me pictures like this:
He kept asking if I wanted a shelf but I could.not.decide. He said of course he could do the best of both worlds (see text above).
Then, last Monday, with the help of my brother, it looked like this!
What!?!?!? Oh yes!!
For those of you DIYers that can build something like, here is a source list:
2 sheets 1/4″ oak hardwood
8-1″x4″x8′
2-1″x6″x8′
2-2 1/4″x8′ crown modling
1-8′ piece of corner molding
You can tell from the pictures how he pieced it together.
The hardest part will definitely be the exhaust so I’ll update it once we get the exhaust in and functioning. For now, the hood is not functional but the front panel piece comes off so he and Russ can easily install it.
What do you think?
Here’s where we started:
And here we are now…
And to prevent you from scrolling back and forth…
Thanks, Dad! I love you!
