Let me start by apologizing for finally getting into the swing of things with blogging then only posting twice this week! I truly forgot how much work goes into planning a first birthday (the real reason why we changed our One Room Challenge to the deck) and I can’t wait to share those details. We really were outside working every night until around 9 or 10 and then Friday night, we were up past midnight…and those of you that know me know that is LATE! (Don’t worry…it was worth every minute and we had so much fun celebrating out littlest man!)
SO! To the One Room Challenge project of the week…I guess I could have counted the the planter but I am really, really pumped about this project that you saw a sneak peek of last week!
Without further ado, one of the easiest projects (I know I say that all the time, but seriously, it’s so easy!)…a pallet sofa!
Remember, I mentioned that I saw this idea on SAS Interiors. Jenna talks about how easy it is, and she is so right! Russ followed her exact tutorial.
(Here are the how-to pictures taken on my iPhone in the rain! Serious dedication–so thankful for my husband!)
One difference in our sofas are the backs. We decided to flip ours on its side so it wasn’t taller than the deck (because our deck rails are shorter than hers).
The other difference is the cushions. I had two pieces of foam when I intended to make a tufted headboard and never got around to it (I’m glad I didn’t because I love my new headboard and now, I have the perfect seating. I just grabbed a 4×12 ft. drop cloth when we were at Lowe’s this week and covered it. It’s obviously not perfectly smooth but it works perfectly outside!
We moved the jute rug from World Market from the playroom to outside because it’s an indoor/outdoor rug anyway.
We hung out here last night and it is so comfy! It provides just enough seating and just enough space for comfortable conversation.
I love our little lounge area and can’t wait to spend so many summer nights out here! The weather has been so perfect for it this weekend and now that the birthday party is behind us, it’s time to relax!
