The essence of a gallery wall is that it must have meaning. And I certainly didn’t know that I would be able to use the word Eclectic! But I’m loving it!
I spent hours and hours trying to create a gallery wall for my office/craft room whatever you want to call it! and I put holes in the wall all for my gallery wall all for it NOT to work because it was just things I liked, not things I loved.
That’s why the boys’ wall was easy. I loved each and everything in it and it had all meaning because I knew for a while what I wanted in it.
Last Thursday, I pinned this adorable print from Lindsay Letters.. (And fell in love with this precious blog, Jones Design Company.) But I knew I couldn’t afford that print. So I stored it away- pining away for it-and trying to figure out how long I could wait before it was on sale.
That very afternoon, Russ and I went to Hobby Lobby to grab a couple of things for the office. As I was walking around, because you can’t go and only buy one thing, I SAW THE PRINT! No kidding. I turned it over and it was HALF the price on the back AND on top of that, I got to take 50% off!!!!!!!!!!
I did not let go of it.
I could not WAIT to get home and hang it up but alas, things got in the way and I didn’t hang the gallery wall until last weekend.
When I did, our house finally began to feel like home.
It took me about five minutes and I didn’t measure or anything. I just laid out four things on the floor that I knew I wanted, hung those up, and taped a couple more things up.
Seriously. Cray’s first birthday pictures and a little bitty painting Kuy did. A portion of their pennant banner from the nursery. An oar reused from Kuy’s big boy room. The anchor, a gift from my very best friend that her college roommate made for Kuy.
A sign I fell in love with at a yard sale. And a first reader print from Russ’ mom’s classroom.
Because when it’s what you love, it works.
When it’s things you just like, it doesn’t.
I’ve learned that in my old age.
When you’re doing what you love, it just clicks.
I can’t wait to finish up their room and style the bookshelf I found for $2!
Here’s a little sneak peek as we wait to decide what to do about bedspreads (stay navy or go stripes!?!)!
I know I’m in love with their beds on either side of the ABC Nightstand but bedding is where I’m stuck!
What do you think?

this is such a cute gallery wall. Did you get the anchor from hobby lobby too? I have one that looks similar in orange and I believe I got it there. I love the color’s in your boys bedroom.
Hey, Emily! Thank you so much!! The anchor was a gift from my best friend that she ordered from CarolinaMoonCrafts on Etsy! 🙂 I have seen some similar at Hobby Lobby and Michael’s! 🙂 THank you for your kind words!!
