Today is the day!
I am finally showing you “finished” kitchen pictures. I always hesitate to say “reveal” and “finished” because I change things so often. Different curtains, dishes in a different place. I think in some pictures cookbooks are in one place and flowers are there in another! It makes me giddy inside moving things around and knowing they can work in different places around my house…but that’s a story for another day! Today I show you how far we have come in this Yellow House Journey! Just for fun, let’s go back so we can appreciate where we came from…
And today…
And because Before/After are my absolute favorite…
And ALL together! The thrifted dishes, the laminate countertops, and the stock cabinets…just with a little bit of time, white paint, and spare change, it happened.
Peeking in the windows for three years, I never imagined this is what it would be….
Thank you so much for following along this journey with us! Missed part of the series? (You can catch up here: Part I, Part II, Part III, and Part IV!)

Your kitchen is gorgeous! I love the white with a touch of color. I was wondering if you have pictures that show the full kitchen, similar to the ones you took in the before pictures. I’m just trying to figure out where everything is placed now, compared to before you started the project. Thanks so much!

Those words mean the world to me! Thank you so much!
Are you still happy with the cabinets? We are considering putting in Lowes oak unfinished cabinets in our kitchen. We would be painting them as well. Any tips for painting? is the paint holding up?
Hey, Emily! Yes, we are still very happy with them! I was nervous about the cabinets under the sink (when my three year old helps, he tends to splash!) but they have no signs of any water damage! Be sure to deal them and they will last a long time! I would love to see pictures if you decide to tackle it!
WOWZA!! what a beautiful space. The jadite is the perfect tone with the white, stunning

What a transformation! I love what you have done with the space! And the jadite accents are wonderful! I especially love that you worked with the windows and allowed as much natural light as possible.
Thank you for sharing!

What a beautiful space! Thanks for sharing. I’m new to your site and wonder if you shared your resources-the laminate counter tops look incredible! I’m curious-how are they wearing, now, after a few months in the home?
Best, Elisa
Thank you, Elisa! I did share a source list in a post immediately following. I really need to update! Thanks for the heads up!
We LOVE them! They even stand up to my hot glue drips!
Amazing! Can’t believe those are laminate counters. They look fabulous
Thank you so much, Eva!!!
What a great job! We are in the process of putting in a new kitchen in our tiny house (960 sq. ft.). My husband is making all the cabinets and we are also going white. I keep hedging on the counter tops. I am not a granite lover and in our last house we had quartz which was lovely looking but we kept braking plates on it and it cost big bucks. I have a choice to make……do I go with the counters you chose and go to a dream trip to Italy in 2 years or spend the money for quartz or marble? decision, decisions!?!?!
That’s so tough, Betsy! Thank you for your kind words!
And that’s incredible that he is making the cabinets!
your kitchen is so lovely – airy and bright. very inviting.
i keep going back & forth between wanting open shelving vs cabinets. do you find that your dishes and stuff on the shelves require wipe downs often?
Thank you! We actually use almost everything on the shelves daily!
i absolutely love everything. It takes true talent to see potential in pile of mess, and turn it into such a masterpiece. How did you make the fridge into a “built in?” Did you buildup around it? I would love to do that to ours and would appreciate any suggestions/advice.
Thank you so much, Anna!! Here’s the link to our refrigerator! It was actually a lot easier than I thought! http://www.restlessarrow.com/2014/01/15/the-refrigerator/ I would love to see pictures if you try it!!
Absolutely stunning! And congrats on the Apartment Therapy feature. We have to replace our cabinets in a new home and I want to paint them, so you have provided a valuable tip with these unfinished cabinets.
One question: it appears the pulls are missing from the drawers. Am I missing something?
Best,
JD
Hi, JD! Thank you so much! You’re not missing anything! We just still have some left to put on! Hehe 🙂
Got it! There’s always more work to do. But that just makes it fun. Congrats again.
Questions about the refrigerator: I have a similar one (Kenmore 27 from the 90s). Ws it hard to paint? Does the paint peal off or scratch off over time? Did you drill holes for those new handles?
Hi! It doesn’t at all! We framed it with a thin piece of wood and drilled straight in! Hope that helps!
Where did you buy the shelves? We are looking for ones just like that!!
Hi! We got the supplies at Lowe’s!
