Except if you follow me on Instagram, you know our deck became rotten in the middle so we had to replace the boards!
BUT, in true South Carolina fashion, it started raining Tuesday and hasn’t stopped so my plans of sharing that space with you today backfired!
Instead, I’m going to re-share our little patio we made over a few years ago because it is absolutely one of our favorite areas STILL!
When we moved in almost four years ago, this space was just grass and we never really used it.
My husband and I talked over and over about what to do with the space because the landscaping around it was so perfect (not by my own accord–thanks to the people that lived here before us!).
We had a LOT of leftover bricks from tearing down our chimney so we decided what better way to use them than a patio!
Russ worked and worked two summers ago to level the ground and lay the brick in a herringbone pattern and it was worth every minute.
We sit out by the fire.
We make s’mores.
We enjoy dinner and dessert here!
It is the perfect size for our family and I cannot wait for the days of summer to just linger.
No bedtime.
No plans for the next day.
Just being able to be.
Save these ideas for later!

What a fabulous cozy outdoor space, Amber! I love your simple touches – leaves so much more time for enjoying friends and family during this too short season!
Amber, your outdoor space is so charming and beautiful. Love how private it is. Hope it’s a summer filled with fond memories for you and your family 🙂
Wow!! What a beautiful space! You did such a wonderful job with it! This time of the year makes me so happy – it’s wonderful being able to enjoy time outdoors altogether.
This is my first visit to your lovely blog, hello, awesome to “meet” you. 🙂 I adore your outdoor space, we really want to create a more civilized cozy fire pit area and I just love how you’ve combined dinning there too! Hmmmm, I may have to borrow that idea. 🙂
Thank you, Laurie! So glad to meet you here 🙂
What a beautiful space…I love the look of brick patios so much…and with your wooden table and outdoor lights, it’s perfection!
Thank you so so much, Jo-Anna!! We love the brick, too!
Amber this is such a warm and cozy family space. Your family looks like they truly enjoy being outdoors and sharing in the summer festivities. Beautiful space.
thank you, Stephanie!!!
What a lovely spot for your family. Perfect place for toasting marshmallows!
Yes! My kids’ favorite! Thank you for your kind words!
I love your home, Amber. Your patio space is just amazing. You can spend forever there!
Hugs, Jamie
thank you so much, friend!!! We hope so! We love it!
Beautiful! If I may ask, what did you used to fill in the gaps between the bricks? Sand? Mortar? A mixture of each?
Hey there! Thank you! We used sand!
