Can you believe it’s finally summer!?! To be honest, our home looks like summer year round because you know how much I love a coastal feel! No, really, I love my whites and blues BUT a hydrangea beside our house bloomed pink for the first time this year! It was covered in vines until last summer but now, every time I water the plants in the morning I cannot wait to see what it looks like. I’ve been holding out picking them just for this tour!

If you’re joining from Rooms for Rent, WELCOME!! Man, Bre is so talented. I’ve admired her for so long! My name is Amber and my husband and our three kids renovated this yellow house, as we call it, almost four years ago. You can read all about that here!

And when I say renovated, it was everything…tearing down walls, knocking down the chimney! EVERYTHING!

Even ripping out plants last year. And this little hydrangea was planted so long ago but until last year, it was wrapped in weeds and vines. When we had someone come and help us with our yard because we were at a loss at what to do, I told him, “I see the tiniest bloom down there! Do you think we can save it?”

And that he did.

With the vines cut from around it, the blooms could full come alive.

But friends, how many vines do we have choking the life out of us?

What is holding you back this summer?

What can you take away that will show that bloom planted so long ago yet just has not had the time to breathe?

What is it that you have been dreaming of and cannot wait to share?

This is the perfect time, friends, to dream.

Summer offers so many opportunities to relax, sit back, and act on those dreams that have been marinating around and living in your heart.

You don’t need permission to let them live. Just remove the vine that’s choking the life out of them and you will be amazed what comes to life.

I had a dream the other night that after church over 100 people showed up at our house for lunch and as much as I love entertaining, I kept sneaking inside. I found excuse after excuse to go inside for one thing after another.

And now that I think back to the vine I think about how sometimes we just want to avoid life. Something in us wants to hide beneath the vines scared of what dream may bloom if we just release it.

Avoiding the life we were created to live.

Avoiding the blooms that could surprise us if we just bring out the scissors.

Avoiding the joy that awaits us if we just press in.

So this summer, follow that dream. Paint that thing you’ve been dying to paint. Make over that room that you can’t figure out what to do with. Call the friend you’ve been meaning to reach out to for weeks. Host that thing you’ve always wanted to host.

Take a leap of faith.

I believe in you.

And that vine cannot hold you back.

Remove the weeds and your dream will flourish.

There is not a doubt in my mind.

Now, be sure to head to Deeply Southern Home to see the beautiful tour, as well!!

Save it for later!
