It’s no secret I love the coast.
I have loved whites and blues since we made over our first bedroom. And if you saw our home tour last week, you know those are my go to colors!
So when it came to decorating our deck, I knew I wanted to use the same colors. But, our house is yellow…and that always felt a little off to me.
I kept having a hard time styling and coming up with a color palette because I was trying to match our house.
But the more I researched yellow houses, I saw all kinds of colors mixed with it.
So, now, I see it as more of a neutral.
I use a bold navy, my favorite–a stripe, and this year, (if I can ever find pillows!) I want to use a bit of red.
Red? Well, I loved when Kelly used it at Lily Pad Cottage and this year I drew my inspiration from the latest issue of Coastal Living magazine.
I kept looking for a scarf or something with a tassel and I had no luck there either!
But then, I found this sheet yesterday at our local thrift store, came home and saw an old mop and the light bulb went off!
So, yep. I hot glued “tassels” to this 25 cents sheet! (You know I love to use a sheet!)
I found this tray at the same thrift store for 75 cents!
And I’ve been dying to use these TJ Maxx outdoor plates!
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I found this chair yesterday, too, for $7.99!!! I have been looking for chairs for this little table forever but my FAVORITE Serena and Lily bistro ones just are not in the budget (even at TJ Maxx), so I moved the chair that was here up to the table and put the rocker here. It still needs one more coat of spray paint, BUT, if you haven’t figured out already, I’m a bit of a procrastinator. 😉
SO! There it is! We painted the deck a few weeks ago (even though we painted it four years ago) because we had some rotted boards and touched up the rails.
And here, you can see our little patio and how the steps lead down to it. Also, one of our favorite areas.
Oh, and one more obsession: I am so obsessed with these little window boxes I found at ALDI!!! This is the first year I have kept plants alive (minus my hanging basket which is still baffling to me and I WILL bring it back!). It makes me so happy in the mornings to stop by here after our early morning walk and take the time to water each plant. This may sound cheesy but there is something about watching for new growth and watching the blooms flourish. It certainly centers my mind and points me back to our Creator.
I’m just so thankful.
Happy Wednesday, friends. I know I always say it, but I absolutely adore you.

So beautiful, Amber! Fresh and light and bright and airy! That tablecloth is the cutest!! Love you coastal inspired style:)
So clean and fresh! I love those over the rail flower boxes!
So cute! Love the tassels and that you made it exactly the way you wanted it.
What a peaceful, relaxing space! SO lovely!
Amber this is bright and beautiful and just perfect! Love those planters!! Xoxo
So lovely! I see yellow as a neutral too, it goes so well with so many colours. I love the blues you chose…blue is a perfect colour with yellow. And that tablecloth you made is genius!! Sometimes it’s so hard to find just the right tablecloth and using a bed sheet is genius!
I love your deck space, but especially your genius idea to attach tassels to a sheet for a table cloth! XO
Thank you, Christy! You are so sweet!
Such a pretty space. I love the blues! And the sheet table cloth is brilliant!
Thank you!!! 🙂
