Today I cannot believe I am joining a group of 25 other talented bloggers who are also sharing a FALL DIY or Craft project!
FALL! Is it already time!?!?! I LOVE summer. But I have decided if I can’t be by a pool, I’ll take cool, fall nights and football. š
I absolutely love how the pumpkin floral arrangements look.
But the problem is, I would be so bad at keeping the pumpkin because I’m scared it would rot.
I had that happen to a non-carved pumpkin two years ago and it made me so sad! It was one of those big pretty green pumpkins that was sooo pretty..
Such is life.
But I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for a little bit.
BUT when it came time to do the actual project, there was not a single plastic pumpkin to be found. I went to four stores and then started sending out SOS texts. Help! Does ANYONE have a plastic pumpkin I can paint!?!?
My neighbor came to the rescue and I got to work.
First, I spray painted it white. That took a couple of coats, and it’s true what they say…take your time and let it dry and don’t spray it all at once…
Once it FINALLY dried, I found the lace I KNEW I had and laid it out to judge how I should cut it around the pumpkin.
Next, I took hot glue and traced the lines on the pumpkin. This gave it the feel of the pumpkin and kept the lace tight together. I kind of felt like I was wrapping a present, though, once I got to the middle. There was no rhyme or reason to how I did this part to get them to meet…I just cut a little and glued. Cut a little more and glued some more.
And finally it was covered!
After that, I was so excited because I knew the flowers would come next. Since I just had a beautiful wedding last weekend with the most gorgeous arrangements that I “borrowed”, I used those! There was even some floral foam in one of the arrangements. And let me tell you. The floral foam is something you should buy name brand. I’ve used cheap floral foam before and could barely cut through. For the Oasis, I used a butter knife and it was the smoothest cut…no weird icky noise, it literally cut right through!
I stuck in the pumpkin and moved some flowers around and we were set.
I can’t wait to add to this with either a place setting or more pumpkins. But since it is August, I better wait a tad longer. š
But since my pumpkin is plastic, my flowers will last a good long while!
Psst…don’t forget over to see what my friends are sharing…they are super talented!
