Hey hey!! I’m so glad you’re here!
I’ve had this post open for most of the day debating what to share with you. To be honest, not a lot has changed around our deck area and then I realized, you know what? That’s okay. Because for us, it’s either thrifted or we waited until we found what we loved and so then we aren’t replacing it year after year to keep up with trends. So naturally, it’s just refreshed and some things are only slightly different because we moved them around!
For example, we scooted this table back against the wall under the window. I keep using this same bedsheet as a table cloth and keep washing it, knowing if it falls apart, it did only cost $1. I added some flowers from my sister-in-law and brother’s baby shower that I loved!
When we add flowers each year, I add the same color all over. I remember Liz from Love Grows Wild sharing that and I really love the way it ties our deck together. PLUS, I buy them on clearance. I don’t buy them all as soon as they put them at Lowe’s, as tempting as it is, I wait a little while and sure enough, I grabbed wave petunias for 75 cents and geraniums for half off!
These simple deck “window boxes” are some of my favorite things! I accidentally put impatiens here because I thought that’s what I planted last year only to kill them and then realized I used VINCA because they love full sun! (Insert face palm emoji!) I slowly added (CLEARANCE) asparagus fern and those clearance wave petunias then finally snuck in this sweet potato vine because a DEER ate them out of a lower planter box by my garden and I did not want that to happen again!
And this little climber I bought this past weekend half off, too! You can see how we made this from a baby gate I found on the side of the road here!
Here’s where things look very much like last year…the couch, the thrifted chair are all perfect fits for this area so we kept it just like that. For the shower last weekend, we moved them down to the backyard and I can’t wait to share that with you!
We love, love, love being outdoors, eating outdoors and just playing together. Someone always begs for someone to play a game, someone always follows others around and someone is always climbing a tree. If you know my kiddos well, you can guess who each is but we are just so thankful. We love being here and we have loved seeing how this yard has been transformed. I’m also super thankful for the sweet lady that had an amazing green thumb that lived here years and years ago that raised hydrangeas and so many other things so well…like the fig tree that a certain someone can’t stay out of!
Be sure to check out all of the amazing outdoor spaces today and use these as inspiration for your own home—remember that—use them to inspire you. Remember everyone’s home tells a different story and it should honor your family’s story in that same special way.
I adore you, friends.
Happy Wednesday!
