On Tuesday, I was listening to a podcast (surprise, surprise!) and they asked the person being interviewed what her most memorable gift was. And my mind started going backwards down memory lane of my most memorable present.
And it didn’t take me long to know exactly what it was. While it may not have been my most FAVORITE gift ever, it was the most memorable because of what my parents did.
It was sixth grade. And in sixth grade, the latest Timberlands were the coolest shoes around. I mean THE coolest. And that’s all I wanted. And my parents KNEW that’s all I wanted. It was the only thing I asked for.
Finally, Christmas morning arrived and I knew as soon as soon as I unwrapped them, I’d have my outfit picked out for the first back to school after Christmas break.
Until we opened all the presents but one…and I knew the time had come.
So I slowly unwrapped the shoe box size gift trying not to be giddy because after all, I was cool, I was in middle school.
I unwrapped the box and YES. It was a Timberland shoe box!!
YES!
EXCEPT WHEN I OPENED THE SHOEBOX THERE WERE KEDS INSIDE.
And my parents LOST IT. They were crying they were laughing so hard! But not me.
My mom finally pulled herself together and went to her bedroom and got my shoes. My special Timberlands.
And she was so darn proud of herself.
But clearly she succeeded because I will never ever forget that Christmas. 🙂
So now you have to share…what is your most memorable gift?
Then, be sure to head to All Things with Purpose blog to check out her gorgeous home!

your home is always so beautiful and i love your kitchen at christmas, amber!
Thanks, sweet Cassie!
Hi Amber! That is such a fun story, and I just love this room in your home! Your Christmas decorations are beautiful! I’ll never forget the Christmas my sister and I got American Girl Dolls, it was the only thing my parents could afford that Christmas and the only thing we wanted. I still have mine 🙂
Aw, that is so sweet, Sarah!! It truly is the heart behind it, isn’t it?
What a Christmas story to remember!! Thanks for sharing the story and your lovely home. Merry Christmas Amber!
Thanks for having me, Krista!
Oh what a funny story!! I have to remember that one for my own kids haha! And lovely home tour Amber…I love red and white at Christmas so much!
Ha! Right!! Thank you…me, too!
Oh no! What a funny prank! I can only imagine how much fun they had with that lol.
I can’t think of my favorite gift right off but a memorable one was when my father got me a gold bracelet and instead of it being wrapped in a box he hung it on the tree like an ornament and I had to find it. That was a fun way to get a gift 🙂
Aw, that is so sweet!!!
